Biography of Greg Horn
Greg Horn is best known for his artwork on MARVEL COMIC’s titles ELEKTRA, EMMA FROST, and SHE-HULK. He is currently the regular cover artist on Ms Marvel. In 2008, he will provide cover art for VIRGIN COMICS' SHADOW HUNTER starring JENNA JAMESON, and TOP COW PRODUCTIONS' WITCHBLADE. Greg’s acclaimed work in comic books has opened up fantastic opportunities in many different art industries outside of comics. He has worked on high profile projects in advertising, video games, magazine covers, editorial, board games, and novels. Greg Horn's online art galleries cover every genre from comic book art, to sports, fantasy, science fiction, and horror.
Greg has been a fan favorite cover artist for Marvel Comics since 2001, winning Wizard Fan Award’s Best Painter of the Year for 2004. He has also been acknowledged by Spectrum with 7 entries in their annual publications showcasing “the Best in Contemporary Fantasy art”. In February 2007, Horn received his highest recognition with an induction into the prestigious SOCIETY OF ILLUSTRATORS along with illustration legends Neal Adams, Basil Gagos, and (Greg's hero) Michael Golden!
Elektra was Greg’s first big project with Marvel and he really hit the ball out of the park. Elektra was showing up big-time in mainstream pop culture: Greg’s artwork was displayed on MTV’s TRL during an appearance by actress Jennifer Garner. Elektra illustrations were also featured in Stuff magazine’s "100 best things" article, an interview with Marvel Editor-in-chief Joe Quesada on "Hispanics Today", and she even accompanied a business article in USA Today! A few months later, Elektra scored a job with top modeling agency Karin Models as a “virtual model”. The following year, film director Mark Steven Johnson revealed that Horn’s paintings of Elektra were the inspiration for Jennifer Garner’s outfit in his movie adaptation of DAREDEVIL, and also the later spin-off film ELEKTRA.
Greg’s next big assignment was Emma Frost, also known as The White Queen. His work on this title was extremely popular and cemented him as one of the premiere cover artists in the comic industry. In 2004, the entertainment website IGN.com, held their “Battle of the Comic Babes" competition. More than half a million fans voted to determine the hottest comic book character of all time, with Greg’s sexy paintings of Emma Frost destroying all 64 entrants! Most recently, Greg is the regular cover artist on She-Hulk and Ms Marvel. In 2007 Horn was commissioned by Virgin Comics to provide the covers to Jenna Jameson’s new comic book called Shadow Hunter.
